"Tears in Heaven" is a ballad written by Eric Clapton and Will Jennings in 1992. It was written in memory of Clapton's son Conor, who fell from a window of the 53rd-floor New York apartment of his mother's friend, on March 20, 1991.
Conor was just 4 years old at the time, and accidentally ran through a window that had been opened for maintenance. Just the thought of something like this happening is horrifying, and Clapton, who arrived at the apartment shortly after the accident, was broken up for months afterwards.
